Carers Queensland Young Carers Program

Carers Queensland supports any Young Carer aged 10 - 25 by:

•  providing free telephone and face-to-face counselling to Young Carers through the Young Carers Counselling Program
•  giving information about available services and providing guided referrals
•  facilitating Young Carer Support Groups in selected Queensland locations
•  providing a free Young Carers kit to all Young Carers who contact us
•  producing YC Mail a newsletter for Young Carers and Young Carer Project Workers and;
•  networking with other agencies such as youth services, schools, health professionals and government to enhance recognition and awareness of Young Carers and their roles and needs.

Commonwealth Carelink and Respite Centres - Young Carers Program

The types of practical assistance Young Carers may be able to receive up to the age of 25 if they are engaged in schooling  or vocational equivalent includes:

• Domestic Assistance (e.g: housework, shopping, cooking)
• In-home respite care
• Day care programs
• Residential respite care
• Recreational activities in the community
• Tutoring
